Uses & Indications
Rosewood is a calming sedative and tonic to the nervous system (Schnaubelt,166).
Blend for Insomnia, Shock, and Grief: To each ounce (1oz / 30ml) of jojoba add 2 drops of each of the following essential oils: Rose, Jasmine, Petitgrain, Neroli, Lavender, Rosewood, Benzoin, Vetiver, Ylang Ylang (Schnaubelt, 150).
Aging skin, analgesic, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, bactericidal, cold, cough, depression, fever, flu, headache, impotence, insecticide, low testosterone, nausea, seasonal affective disorder, wrinkles (Althea Press, 397).
Rosewood is a very safe oil, being non-toxic, non-irritant, and non sensitizing in all its actions (Davis, 264).
Davis suggests that Rosewood is an immune system stimulant and could possibly be used to help those with H.I.V. (HIV) or A.I.D.S. (AIDS).
Rosewood is mildly analgesic, and effective in clearing headaches, especially if these are allied to slight nausea. Due to the steadying effect Rosewood has on the nerves, it is a good choice to use during exams or times of crises. Rosewood is useful in treating acne, helps to diminish wrinkles, stretch marks and is a good deodorant (Davis, 264).
Many people find Rosewood aphrodisiac more, I think, through its actions on the mind and emotions than any physical/hormonal effect (Davis, 264).
Candida in the mouth (Thrush) can be treated with 1 drop rosewood or 1 drop tea tree in honey and water to be used as a mouth rinse 3-5 times a day (Price, 282).
Price suggests that diffusing Rosewood can help with childhood stress.
Price suggests that Rosewood is a suitable oil for use with migraines and headaches.
Price says that Rosewood is a good choice to help improve dryness and elasticity of the skin.
“It is the obvious choice to use in baths and massages to treat chronic fatigue syndrome, glandular fever (mononucleosis), influenza and other conditions where the immune system is weakened (Purchon, 105).
Purchon suggests that Rosewood assists in cell stimulation and regeneration.
Acne, cuts, dermatitis, eczema, scars, wounds, wrinkled skin, deodorant, insect repellent, dry skin, sensitive skin, headaches, jet lag, female sexual dysfunction, stress, aphrodisiac (Purchon, 106).

Internal: Although the quality of Selah Oils is excellent, it is not advised to take essential oils internally unless under the guidance of a certified physician who is also certified in aromatherapy. We recommend getting internal dosing instructions from a licensed physician as some essential oils are not recommended for oral consumption. This is in no way a reflection on our oil quality, only a matter of safety and caution with respect to how concentrated essential oils are. When used within safe parameters, and under your physician's care, the quality of our essential oils is such that they can be used internally if deemed appropriate.
However, with that said, it is important to remember the extreme concentration of essential oils. "Using essential oils by rubbing them into the skin or via inhalation is in many cases more effective than oral delivery" (Schnaubelt 96).
All cautions listed for individual oils do not include those cautions from ingestion.
