Hyssop has been called upon for centuries as a healing herb due to its anti-infectious and antiseptic properties. The mention of Hyssop in Scripture reveals it to have been used by priests for cleansing.

Hyssop is perhaps the strongest, yet mildest essential oil used for viruses and infections of a wide range. This makes it a first choice for oral fever blisters and direct application for genital hygiene (especially herpes).

Body: As part of the mint family of herbs, Hyssop has a wonderful effect on respiratory issues of all kinds. Additionally, it acts as an antioxidant throughout the system and supports circulation and the heart, digestion, immune response, muscle pain and spasms, and skin health.

Mind & Emotions: Hyssop soothes well the mind struggling with nervous depression. It stimulates creativity, encourages meditation, and helps clear busy thoughts.

See "Uses" tab below for more details.

Note:  This oil is different than Hyssop officinalis and does not contain the potentially toxic ketones that Hyssop officinalis contains. Also known as Hyssop off. var. montana intermedia.

      Internal:

Although the quality of Selah Oils is excellent, it is not advised to take essential oils internally unless under the guidance of a certified physician who is also certified in aromatherapy. We recommend getting internal dosing instructions from a licensed physician as some essential oils are not recommended for oral consumption. This is in no way a reflection on our oil quality, only a matter of safety and caution with respect to how concentrated essential oils are. When used within safe parameters, and under your physician's care, the quality of our essential oils is such that they can be used internally if deemed appropriate.

However, with that said, it is important to remember the extreme concentration of essential oils. "Using essential oils by rubbing them into the skin or via inhalation is in many cases more effective than oral delivery" (3. p. 96).

All cautions listed for individual oils do not include those cautions from ingestion.

      Suppository:

It is very important that you use Hyssop decumbens and not Hyssop officinalis. For simple use, you may prepare the following blend and fill a capsule with it. Be sure to coat the capsule in a carrier oil. Insert into rectum.
